Author Interview with Elle Boon

20 Questions
(Author Interview)

1.Tell us about your current project.

I'm currently working on two books for Kindle Worlds. One is for Desiree Holt's world Omega Team and the other is Susan Stoker's Kindle World SEAL of Protection. Both will be releasing in November back-to-back. One on November 15th and the other on the 22nd. Desiree's book is called Saving Shayna and has the guy I introduced in the last SEAL Team Phantom book that was in an anthology I was in. He's actually a CIA agent named Mike Royce who has just left the agency and planned to start his own security firm with his best friend and partner with Maddox Lopez. This story was a little harder for me to write as it was the first time I'd written in a Kindle world and had to use someone else's characters. However, I truly loved the characters, and world so I hope that comes across in the story. As for Susan's world I am already loving the heroine. She has a kickass car that is a 1968 Yenko Camaro in mint green. She's also a yoga instructor who is all about her Chakra, and the hero thinks he's sent to protect a tree hugger who probably doesn't shave her legs or other important body parts LOL.

2. What sparked the idea for this project?

For Desiree's world it was easy since I'd introduced the hero in my last book. It just took a little finagling to add Desiree's characters into the mix. I want to make sure I mesh her people with my voice, while not taking away from hers. The same goes for Susan's worlds. Taking only a couple main characters, knowing how they are in her world and making them fit in mine was the fun part.

2a: When can we expect to see this project?

November 15th Mission Saving Shayna comes out and November 22nd Protecting Teagan releases.

3.  How do you choose your book covers?

Book covers are really important to me cause I know readers see them before anything else. I take the time to choose my images, and make sure they appeal to me, then I have my girls (my beta readers) tell me what they think. Between us, we seem to come to a unanimous decision of what we love, and honestly, I think I have great covers.

4. Music seems to influence a lot of authors, what are your musical influences, if any?

Oh yessss. I love music. Need music when writing. I am actually doing a contest for my latest book that was in Shifters Hallows Eve. I seem to use lines from songs and only realized it LOL. For example one of the bad guys in Dark Lovers actually says "I'm worse than the beast under your bed." and one other time a bad guy says "You can check out, but you can't ever leave." Both are from favorite songs, and so I'm going to ask readers if they recognize them and if they can tell me what books, and what songs they belong to.

5. How do you handle "writers block"?

Luckily for me, I have yet to struggle with that ailment yet. "prays it doesn't happen" LOL

6. Who has been your greatest influence?

Soo many great authors, but the author I credit for me becoming a published author is Desiree Holt. Without her, I doubt I'd have been published when I had been. She edited, critiqued, and helped me on my first book, and has given me so much invaluable advice.

7. Do you or have you ever had a muse?

Hmmm, not really. I mean I look at a man and think "He is exactly who I picture so and so as." But a muse I wouldn't call any one person.

8. What one subject is TABOO in your writing?

I guess you would say cliffhangers for me LOL. I don't like them or serials. I will always give a happily ever afters and never do cliffhangers because I hate to read them LOL. Other than that I guess that is it, or at least all I can think of <3 b="">

9. What do you do when you aren't writing?

Hmm, reading, cleaning, and hanging out with my family.

10. If there was one book you wish you'd written, which would it be?

I don't know. If you mean by other authors, I don't think I'd want to write their stories as I've loved them and their voices and wouldn't want to ruin it with my voice. As for my own series, I really want to write the next book in my Ravens of War series, but I'm waiting until I get my rights back from my publisher (ssoooo long to wait).

11. What is your greatest passion?

Other than my family, I'd say writing.

12. What one word best describes you?

Crazy and I know it LOL.

13. If you could change places with one of your characters, would you?
Which one and why? Hmmm, I would love to be Jenna from my Iron Wolves because she is awesome and I can't to write her story. She is the Fey Queen, and has a quirky sense of humor, with unparalleled power so far.

14. Is there one, current, tv show that is "can't miss" for you?

No. I don't really watch TV. I mean I will binge watch movies on Netflix because I need that instant gratification. I can't stand to wait until the next week to see what has happened. I know...I know. Waiting until the series has ended is even longer, but to me its easier than waiting weeks on end LOl.

15. Money is no object, where do you go?

Oy, to the place to get a passport first. Yes, sadly, I don't have one yet. It's on my to do list. After I have one, I want too travel...if it's safe. So, more than likely, I'll just be a rich US traveler. Hawaii here we come LOl.

16. Tell me, please, the first two books on your TBR list.

Oy Vay. I read. Truly I do. I always read my favorites. So when Sherrilyn Kenyon, or JR Ward, or Shelly Laurenston etc have a release I make sure I don't have a book due so I can read them. I love NJ Walters, Dana Marie Bell, Diana palmer, Lora Leigh and sooo many more.

17. How do you choose character names?

For me, I love my characters to have names that are different than the average person. Like Shayna, Teagan, Kai, Laikyn, etc. I sort of make them up or hear a cool name and write them in my phone.

17a: Are you any of your characters inspired by someone you know in "real life?"

All my characters have a little bit of me, or someone I know in them, whether it is a phrase they say or how they look, or how they act. I take a little of real life and put it into my stories. I feel like that makes them a little more real.

18. Tell us one thing we may not know about you.

Now that is hard as I swear I'm a total open book. However, something y'all may not know is...I'm a total neat freak. Like I have my closet color coordinated. I even have to make sure my books shelves are organized. My spice shelves are always neat and organized, my drawers are neat and organized. Yesss, I am "That" person <3 b="">

19. What do you want to be when you grow up?

I am doing it. I'm writing and being a wife and mother. My life is exactly where I want it to be. Of course, I want to add a few letters in front of author like NYT and USA Best Seller LOL <3 b="">

20. Of the 7 Deadly Sins, which one have you committed most recently?

  3. I really enjoyed your comments about the characters you create and how they have some of you or someone you know and also the fact that you write down names in your phone as you come across some that you like...I can just see you out and say to whomever you are with "wait a sec I have to jot this name down"...you are just awesome!
