Under the Mistletoe by Amy Lee Burgess
Eyes dark with brimming anger Orlando snarled, “What the hell is going on? What kind of magic is this? I hate witches. This is their doing, isn’t it?”
“We stepped under the mistletoe.” I gazed upward at a bright green sprig of leaves and red berries. “It activated a shield that will last for an hour.”
Orlando’s face suffused with red. “Are you saying I have to spend an hour with you? With nothing but a padded bench for furniture? Nothing to drink or eat? Nothing to do?”
“I think the idea is to be romantic,” I said.
The snort that burst from him was worthy of a dragon’s lungs. “Still harboring feelings for me, I take it, Emily?”
“Go screw yourself, Orlando!” I glared at him. “In the case of people trapped beneath the mistletoe who aren’t attracted to each other, like us for vivid example, we’re supposed to talk. Marley says conversation opens doors. Communication is the first step toward understanding.”

“Understanding what?” Orlando looked down his attractive nose at me. “That we despise each other and have nothing in common? We don’t need sixty minutes in a prison to establish that.”

Through the Blizzard by Dominique Eastwick

Throwing the heavy oak door open, he glared. “What the hell do you want?”
Teeth chattering and standing naked before him, she shivered. “Heat would be nice.”
“I have a good mind to tell you to fuck off,” he snarled at her between gritted teeth.
“It-it-it’s, really co-co-cold.”
No matter how much bile he had built within him for this woman, he could not in good conscience let another shifter freeze. He stepped to the side .“Better to have you in than all my heat out.”
“Thank y-y-y-you.”
“Where are your clothes?” He led her into library where the fire was roaring. He would do anything not to look at her body, waging an inner battle with his leopard as it screamed for him to claim her. “I can’t believe you would be stupid enough to come up this way without a sack.” They always carried a set of clothes in their mouth when making any long trip where they didn’t have supplies stashed.
“I dropped it over a cliff some ways back.”
“Of course, you did. You must be the only snow leopard unable to scale a mountain,” he muttered then cursed as she crouched before the fire giving him a great view of her backside. “Don’t go anywhere.”
“Not likely with this fire here.” She smiled at him then as their eyes met and the chill had her smile faltering.

What a Scottish Shifter Wants by Jennifer Hilt

We lay dozing, listening to the snow flakes falling down the chimney with a sizzle. My mind returned to the conversation I’d started before. “About the Boy Scouts, they have a motto—‘always be prepared’. I never guessed a virgin would be equipped with birth control out here.”
“I’m not on any birth control,” Briana said.
I loved the feel of her nipple between my fingers and against my tongue. “What?” I stopped. “You said you were on birth control.”
“No.” Briana leaned forward, encouraging me to continue. Her breasts brushed my lips. She kissed my brow. “I said don’t worry about it.’
“You’re not on birth control.” My blood drummed in my ears.
She nodded. Cheerfully.
“I’ve fucked you at least a half dozen times.”
Briana slid out of bed. “That’s a conservative estimate.” She gathered her long hair back, braiding it as she stood by the side of the bed. “I’m going to melt some ice for a bath. Care to join me?”
My hand shot out, grabbing her wrist. “What’s going on?”
She glanced down at my hand on her wrist. She raised her eyebrows. “Why are you angry?”
“What if you become pregnant?”
“I hope I’m pregnant. All my sisters have had one child by now except me.” She easily removed my hand from her arm. “I didn’t know about Boy Scouts. You didn’t know Amazons don’t need men to raise their children. It’s funny what we don’t know about each other.” She kissed my cheek once her braid was finished. Briana padded to the kitchen without looking back.

I stared at her shapely retreating backside. “Hilarious,” I commented but no one but me was around to hear it.

Blizzard Bound by Rosalie Redd

The strike of a match against stone broke the silence. A warm crackle started in the hearth.
Aramond rose, turning to face her. The flame’s soft glow reflected in his eyes, and a smile curled his lip. He held out his arms. “Come, let me hold you.”
Danae stepped into his embrace, and he wrapped his strong arms around her waist, tugging her close. His familiar scent of pine and fresh rain filled her lungs, reminding her of how much she loved him. “I don’t want you to go. The storm, I’m worried that—”
“Shh…” He placed his index finger over her lips, letting it linger there for a long moment. His eyes flashed that amber-red she’d once feared but grew to love. “I’ll return as soon as I can. Nothing can keep me from you, my love. You know that, don’t you?”
She nodded, and he trailed his fingers along her jawline until he cradled her head in his palm. With a tenderness she’d fallen for so long ago, he brought his lips to hers, his passion evident in the intensity of his kiss.
She mewled under his onslaught, scraping her nails through his hair and along his scalp.
A deep, possessive growl reverberated in his chest. After a long moment, he broke the kiss. “That will have to tide us both over until I return.”
She giggled, loving his sense of play, despite the worry lingering in the back of her mind. “I’ll hold you to that.”

A twinkle sparked through his eyes. “I hope you do.”

All I want for Christmas by Bethany Shaw

“So you’ve been working for Astraea for nearly a thousand years?”
Surely he’d paid his debt by now. When would he be free? Was it even possible or was she setting herself up for heartache? If he was immortal, they had a few years, maybe, until they couldn’t be together anymore. Eventually she’d keep aging and he wouldn’t be interested in her anymore. What kind of a relationship could they have?
“I have, but I think I want to ask Astraea to release me from my duties.” He leaned forward and lightly pressed his lips to hers. “I’ve fallen for you these past few months, Cassidy. I can’t get you out of my mind. When I saw those men hurting you, I lost it.”
“I’m falling for you, too,” she admitted. “Do you really think she’ll release you?”
Santiago grinned at her. “I do. Aric is waiting for a replacement, but he’s been released. Daire is already free. For the first time in over a thousand years he is mortal. There is hope for us.”
“Good.” She hadn’t realized how much she needed that answer until he said it. They had a chance to be happy together. She closed the distance between them.
Santiago didn’t need any more encouragement. He parted his lips and flicked his tongue over hers. His kiss sent heat scorching through her.

She gasped as his hands tiptoed down her arms to rest on her hips. The past six months he’d been the star in her dreams and now this was really going to happen. How had she gotten so lucky?

A Very Foxy Christmas by Melissa Snark

The door to the suite swung open. Hannah thrust out her hand, feeling her way along the wallpapered hall until she found the rocker switch. Once she depressed it, recessed lighting filled the room, revealing a king-sized bed. The furnishings were nice—solid four-star quality—a far cry from the band's usual sketchy lodgings.
The enormous red-and-gold-wrapped Christmas gift in front of the television really grabbed the eye. The staff had placed it exactly as she'd instructed—their gratuity would reflect her appreciation.
Hannah strode forward and dropped her luggage in front of the closet. Silver entered behind her and set his own bags down beside hers. The door eased shut on its soft-close hinge behind them. He passed her, naturally drawn straight to the present.
"What's this?" Silver asked. As he got closer, he slowed his approach to a cautious creep. His wariness brought a smile to Hannah's lips. You could lead the coyote to water, but he still suspected the pond was poisoned.
"I don't know. It's a mystery to me." Hannah crossed her arms over her chest, guarding against fear. What if he didn't like it? But oh, that was stupid. He'd love it.
"It's pretty big." Silver cast a glance over his shoulder. His sly smile told her that he'd figured it out. He wrapped both hands about the gift—a rectangular package that came to his mid-chest. "You finally got me that hedge trimmer I've always wanted, didn't you?"
"Yup, you guessed it. That's it exactly." She tipped her chin.

"I knew it." He snickered. "Do I have time to open it?"
